A service site on the Web provides access to tools to create personal Web pages. After registering with the site, you create your Web pages using the tools provided. Once completed, the service site acts as a host for your personal Web site and others are free to visit it from anywhere in the world.

Weblogs have become a popular way to create a personal Web site. A Weblog is a Web page with dated postings, like a bulletin board. Many service sites offer Weblogs for users. For example, you could use the service site Blogger.com to start a Weblog by following these steps:

1. Connect to blogger.com and follow the instructions to sign up for an account.
2. Enter a name and description for your Weblog.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to choose hosting options and a URL others will visit to see your page.

1. Select a template for your site. This design will be the colors and layout used on your Web site.

Once your Weblog has been created, you can add content easily by visiting a Web page and entering your information. For example, to post to a Blogger.com Weblog:

1. Connect to blogger.com and sign in.
2. Add the text of your post to the upper pane.
3. To add an image, click Upload File and follow the on-screen instructions
4. To add a link to another Web site, select the text for the link and click the Hyperlink button.

1. Click Post to see your new post in the lower pane.
2. If you’d like to touch up your post, click [edit].
3. When your post looks the way you’d like it to appear, click publish.
4. Click view web page to see your page on the Internet.

The page displayed is what others see when they visit your site.
